Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of maintaining winder equipment including:

identifying, addressing and reporting potential hazards and risks

controlling identified hazards

identifying, addressing and reporting environmental issues

preparing written records and reports

undertaking tests and monitoring winding operations

applying site and manufacturer’s requirements and procedures for maintaining winder equipment

works effectively with others to undertake and complete maintaining winder equipment to meet all required outcomes including:

preparing for and organising work activities to meet all task requirements

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements throughout work activities

demonstrates completion of maintaining winder equipment that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

carrying out pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures

maintaining winder equipment

operating equipment controls, monitoring gauges and systems

conducting safety checks

operating equipment within specified limitations and capabilities


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in maintaining winder equipment through:

accessing, interpreting and applying legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

identifying and managing risks

identifying, addressing and reporting environmental issues

setting up work activity

selecting and checking for faults, all plant, tools and equipment to carry out tasks

work health and safety

identifying and correcting operational faults

shaft winder operations

fault and defect identification

maintenance management

energy isolation methods

applying site and manufacturer’s requirements and procedures

identifying winder types

identifying shaft infrastructure

identifying trip and fault conditions and other abnormal conditions
